This PF takes on a completely different personality after replacing the bracelet with a strap…

Like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde—it’s two very different watches in one.

On a strap, the focus is on the watch itself, making it easy to admire the wide-set, asymmetrical lugs, a consistent feature of most PF models, as well as the dial.

But once mounted on the original bracelet, out comes Mr Hyde. With its very strong personality, the bracelet takes center stage, almost making the watch itself seen inconsequential.

I first received this watch on the strap shown, which is aftermarket, but replaced that with the bracelet once I had the AD replace a couple missing minor screws on the bracelet. Now it’s a few months later and I realized the bracelet, although very nicely made, and with its predictable PF styling, is probably a bit too extreme for me, at least from now.

So it’s back on the strap, with a new strap, in blue, on its way. But for now I feel the watch on a strap is more calming and fitting for my personality. But should I ever enter a Mr Hyde phase, the bracelet may return.

Thanks! Although this Metrographe lacks the sophistication of yours, it still has its charms, and the family resemblance is obvious…

Yours being the sophisticated older brother on his way to the board meeting, and mine, the younger rebel cruising the boulevard looking for a fight.

Maybe so. But I think the age of the owner has something to do with the preference. The bracelet definitely seems more targeted to a much younger market.

Which is who I believe Parmigiani was intending these models to appeal to. So I gave the bracelet a try, and maybe if I were still in my 20s I would have preferred the bracelet and just laughed at all the old guys who prefer the strap. I’m no longer young...

I dig this Metrographe!

Very cool in both iterations. A slight nod to the strap, I suppose. M4
