This must be one of the earliest watches of Franck Muller (the watchmaker)
May I ask if there is even an earlier Franck Muller watch in your father's collection, or did Franck Muller perhaps solicit a commission with this gift?

Coming fresh from watchmaking school, Franck Muller started his career in Svend Andersen's atelier in autumn 1983. He worked then mostly on restorations (particularly Patek Philippe's collection of historical clocks and watches). Around 1988 he rented his own atelier in the same building and started to create one-off watches for collectors. The gifted watch in your collection must have been built in this time. Franck Muller signed his watches then simply with "Franck". It became "Franck Muller" when he was lured by Vartan Sirmakes to join him in 1991 to start what is today "Franck Muller", the brand.

Many thanks for sharing all these great watches of your collection with us. For me it is always exciting to see commission pieces, because the owner has brought some of his personal taste and interest into the watch.
