It is interesting to me how some independents get all
the attention and others almost nothing. Indeed there are so many springing up these days. Some seem to garner all the publicity while others get hardly a comment. I have noticed this with Artime. Instagram posts get very few comments. Perhaps because it’s a group of people who formed a team for this company that makes a difference but others have done the same. Maybe it’s that one watchmaker for their watch is the trick. Just an observation. There are “darlings” and then there are the rest of them. What makes one garner more attention than the others? Ferdinand Berthoud gets a lot of attention and they are what I would call “independent -like” although a division of Chopard. Hard to figure. Enjoy your Sunday!

Based on my noob observation
Artisanal collectors care about hand-finishing, small size, background of the watchmakers and aesthetics. At least for me I do look at these attributes before I transfer my hard-earned money to them.

FPJ is not a good example
as they are produced in the 1000s annually and the majority of their watches have no interior angles. While most artisanal watchmakers are less than 50 and they hand-finish their watches. Some make only 2 per year. And these artisanal watchmakers have an ...

I think your last part is whats worrying most of us nowadays.
The fact that most new brands start at 80k plus nowadays is for me impossible to get in and try it out . Years ago i could buy a nice indie for a decent price without having to fear that if i don’t like it that much i will lose a arm or leg.
For Artime specifically I don’t have an answer except to say…
