Exponential Precision
To engine-turn a regular basket weave pattern of 0.6mm in length by hand is already quite astounding. The idea of Infinity Weave is to replicate the same basket weave pattern 4 TIMES of 0.3mm each!!! inside the same 0.6mm x 0.6mm area. The precision required is not linear but exponential.
Any slippage means throwing the dial away and start with a new one all over again.
Per Shapiro, it took over a month to complete this o1 tool steel dial due to high rejection rate and he will never do it again. Only 2 were ever made by him.
