EWT: Experimental Watch Technology: Testing the Differential d’Egalite

I have to admit that I did not completely understand what Stephen was telling me, so my apologies to one and all if I have this wrong. However, as I understood it, the differential in this particular setting is to allow a constant force to the escapement. What makes the GF solution different is that during time setting, and the release of the power from the mainsprings directly on the escapement, there is no protection from a normal remontoire on the movement. The differential allows the constant force to continue. Probably have understated the argument considerably, but the movement was still a wonder to behold. Can only hope that a more terrestrial Greubel Forsey might be in our futures!
