The correct instructions for setting are to advance to a full moon by turning the crown in position 2 (time setting). Then set to the most recent prior date of the full moon with the crown in position 1. Then to advance to the current date and time with the crown in position 2 again.

I have the same issue with my MIH watch, if it is unworn less than a week, it is easier to cycle through the days than to reset everything.
