Useful, though...

... as white slots are a pretty decent indicator that the manufacturer has been cutting costs and corners.  If they cannot even bother to properly heat-blue their screws, other cheap materials and techniques are sure to hide under the plates...

For the record, though: Habring most certainly do not do this.  Their screws and hands are blued in the proper manner, and right pretty they are, too...

Get flat polished, blued screws with "clear" polished bevels!

I hate those chemichally blued ones, too...

...which is why I didn't suggest it. Frankly, I don't think they'd do that even if you asked them to. Also, as I hope was evident from the smiley, I was only joking. I wouldn't tie the screw finish to that of the hands, but it certainly needs to be in har...

Blued screws are logical in some specific contexts like Lange... if not, they look like gimmicks. I would prefer polished screws to give a more classy touch. Fr.Xavier

Tough question

Blued screws seem to be more trendy and a gut reaction that we so often may have (after all, they are hand blued, and isn't that great). I suspect, however, that non-blued may be more in keeping with the Habring2 aesthetic and simply work better here. Unle...

You have a chronometer style dial with silver hands. Then I would personally choose polished screws. If your hands were blued, then I would choose blued screws also. Regards, Richard.

The hands will be blued

...I was "taught" that the blued screws (with properly blued slots, of course) are one hallmark of excellent craftmanship. As a result, I've long had a preference for blued screws. That said, to me the Habring design ethos is more consistent with the simp...

Flat polished screws! Blued screws were very tempting, and the Habrings do it beautifully (can't wait to see those big leaf hands once blued), however, my brief for this was: "I wanted something reminiscent of a marine chronometer, highly legible, ultra h...
