I had the pleasure of getting an invitation for the presentation of a new Dutch creation.
The watch is based on a Christopher Claret movement (former partner of Renaud and Papi) but Bart and Tim Grönefeld receive the parts 'brut' as Edwin explained and they take care of the finishing.
The watch has a nice sounding MR with Cathedral gongs, spanning the movement perimeter for almost 720° for a nicer and "deeper" sounding repeater to mimic the soundquality of a bigger pocket watch. You can see the hammers from the dialside.
The oscillator uses a flat hairspring with regulator and it beats at the magic rhythm of 18.000 bph.
The watch measures about 44mm in diameter and is almost 11.5mm thick. Lug width is 24mm and the rosé gold watch with strap and double folding deployant buckle weigh a very comfortable 180 grams.
The MR caliber consists of 365 parts, the waterproof(!!) case is constructed from 47 parts and the dial with hands count 17 parts. The black minute chapter is made of black Onyx
At the presentation I also met another Dutch watchmaster, Kees Engelbarts, the famous engraver who is living and working in Switzerland. He brought a few models of his Cornelius & Cie collection, which he founded with his good friend Paul Petijs.
