Yours is an interesting remark

We have reconciled a long time ago and now we honor the dead of both sides equally; this is common practice, at least in Continental Europe.

On the "good" side there was also a "bad" contender, Stalin's regime. Etc. This kind of distinctions could go on forever.

Luckily, we are able, two and three and four generations later, to simply look at the World Wars as cruel and avoidable CIVIL WARS that should never have taken place, if the leaders of yesterday had been smarter and had cared more for the sake of their peoples.

Some ideologies were obviously and crazily wrong, but the immense majority of the men who fought on their sides were not bad men. They were people like you and me, who simply had the bad luck of having been born in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I appreciate your passion, but really? So cool that when i strap it on my wrist, i do it in memory of the courageous and skilled hero pilots from both sides who fell in combat in the sadly fratricide WW2. No. From both sides? Never ever. The watch in ques...

I quite agree with you, there were good and bad on ALL sides...and as to the watch, you should get the lower pusher redone by your loved one, as the rumour says ;) I had to do my own with nail varnish, as my loved one would have painted all of it :) ...

Thanks for the tip

Maybe one day i will paint the lower pusher in red. In general i am reluctant to altering the original condition of my Fliegerchronographen, and i like to see the genuine patina, but i may well ask my loved one to lend me her toe nail varnish ;-) It would...
