You might be surprised this is not going away as people still have the money to spend, just not much place to spend...

From the famous pre-owned platforms, steel sports took a small dip and is back up to before COVID level, slight lower but some hype ones are still strong.
As with other SS craze, FPJ gains from all the auction prices that imho, is too much $$ flying around with no place to make it official but that's just me. There is a strong correlation to after-market prices vs auction and social media promoting....just the recent H-article about Datograph, I saw some Datograph listings which has sat for months just sold.
I do agree the urge is not that strong anymore to want to buy more watches or luxury items since we have no events to "show" smile Eg. my wife doesn't want to buy more handbags or jewelries because she don't have chance to wear it, good for me but she said the same to my watches sad
However, when some "desirable" piece shows up and people think there's potential, it will still fly.

Do you wear a watch while locked down at home? The author states a case for both sides.

I swap 3-4 times a day

Honestly I’m surprised at this habit, sometimes I swap it during zoom sessions too, especially when I get distracted by the watch winder in front of the computer.

I am the same way, I always have a watch on unless

doing yard work or outside work on the house.

I even sleep on them

I think lockdowns could even kill the steel sports watch craze and bring on the dress/casual complication

Who needs a 300M dive watch at home? Why wear a steel bracelet if you're spending so much time in a climate controlled indoor environment? Why not wear a 48mm big boy now that you don't have a cuff to clear? Does the social status of a Rolex mean anything...

You might be surprised this is not going away as people still have the money to spend, just not much place to spend...

I can't decide if the COVID situation has created a buyer's market,

a seller's market, or a stuck in the mud market.
