Horological Meandering

Watches that I actually used from 2013 onwards,part2 of3, just buying what you like

Apologies.

As you can see...I wandered in the universe of watches.

From prices to rarity to the common.

I had an undeniable lot of fun.

It is true, if one buys what one likes, one would have alot of fun.

BUT...you will have to be honest with yourself, and not regret if "resale" is taken into the equation.

Resale is a complex dynamic quality of mass human reactive emotions.

As a single human is already complex, imagine a world, plus another world of China added on.

I guess I have the one singular luxury of disposable, or a better word, less critical income.

I really buy for the sake of buying only what I really liked, occasionally..even quartz.

Like this DEVON...an instrument that is as american a product as any good Corvette or military plane.

Electronics cannot be taken out of the equation without being pretentious.

In the background...you see a painting by Travone.
They are so real, that even at close inspection, it can't be seen as a painting.
It made me think of mechanical watches...they are forever.
But not as perfect as a photograph.

The seven friday.

As honest and as fun and as available to the world.

NOT exclusive, but inclusive.

Not expensive.

Made well.

Good enough for 99% of people.

I wanted one to see how bare one could go, and yet be desirable.

Be desirable to a FREAK or Opus owner.

It is a joy to wear.

It is NOT plain.

But it is made to resemble a degree of complexity, in an honest and fun way.

Shockingly, the Philip Stein watch was incredibly well made..the details to the dial..superb.

The rest of it...was intentionally ordinary.

But it was also priced low.

These would be OVERKILL

These were watches I bought over the years.

BUT..I wear almost daily/weekly.

Below are the many watches, with a total random way I bought.

I would buy a watch to mark every memorable case or business.

SEIKO deserved a seperate box.

I collect SEIKO with a focus on philosophy.

No doubt they are among the least costly, but also put together in a way that NO ONE would do if it was done in the west.

It is just the culture...it is so different.

I cannot understand the japanese.

BUT...I can understand their extrme nature when it comes to QUALITY.

Especially the SEIKO GALANTE and the GRAND SEIKOS.

I had just returned from a session of watching a western trained craftsman stitch leather by hand.

It is just different.

More pics in the next post.
