So I've developed this idea further...

Thanks! Yes I think so too, but I want to incorporate even more of the automotive theme into the case structure, to make the elements functional instead of gimmicky...
So I figured my supercar watch should have Guillotine doors like the Countach or Diablo, which cover and protect the crown on the right side... and the central sapphire crystal covering the dial itself would be able to slide upwards or flip up (like the Start switch on the Lambo Aventador
), a bit like the cockpit on a fighter jet.
And the functional and very cool aspect will come from... I will use a QP movement in the superwatch - the hour and minute hands will be made of exotic high-contrast material (maybe blued titanium) so that when the tinted sapphire crystal (aka the doors and the cockpit) portions are closed, the wearer can only see the time...
BUT..
slide the cockpit sapphire upwards, and you'll get to see the full perpetual calendar indications and subdials, because the subdials and subdial hands will be made to blend in with the tinted sapphire crystal. The subdial hands may themselves be made of sapphire crystal entirely and have blued titanium tips (a bit like the De Bethune DB25 Maya)
The tinting on the sapphire crystal is actually possible - I ran this by a watch manufacturer friend and another friend who's a watch designer - and will be a revolutionary treatment, never before seen on watches.
And when the wearer wishes to wind the watch, just slide the doors up... just like how you get into a Countach!
Cool huh?
(did I mention the whole contraption will be made of solid platinum? although I might do another piece in titanium just for the lightness)
