Horological Meandering

Several More are guilty

Panerai and Audemars Piguet have taken the concept of limited editions to its limits, to the extent that the LE's outnumber the normal editions.

Other cheesy things are the boutique LE's which mean nothing except a change of dial color or the hands. At least in those cases, Brands do not attempt to charge any premium.

Also even when true Limited Editions are produced, later on when the Brand realizes  that the response has been overwhelming, they decide to do a larger run with a minor tweak, effectively cheating the collectors that paid top dollar for rarity. The latest example is MB&F LM1.

I admire Rolex that has not hopped on to the LE bandwagon.

IMHO - The key to a LE should be that the Brand should not produce the said version in the same metal again and even the other metal versions should appear  at  the least, two years after the first LE.
