Horological Meandering

I tried on this amazing vintage leather jacket on Saturday. As I was slipping on the jacket, I instinctively and unconsciously performed a “snap check” – I looked at the cuffs to see if there were metal snaps and whether the metal extended through to the ... 

Until now! After your post, I go to triple check my jackets to see if this can happen. I have just a minor case of OCD when I'm wearing a watch with a plastic crystal. I feel terrible when the plastic show any scratch. Cheers

Don´t be worried , Craig, your precautions are very sensible. I do not have similar problems as my jackets do not have snaps, but if they would ... Sympathetically, anaesdoc

That and when walking by walls always bring my arm in. On another note, did you ever notice that when you put on your seat belt and grab it with your left arm it can hit the watch? I did that with my bell and ross and put a nice dent in it. Watch those se... 

I work in a laboratory in white Lab Coats which have pop fastners on the sleeve so I have my left sleeve rolled back about 1 inch to hide the popper. I also look out for rivets or zips on jeans in potentially dangerous positions...my new jeans have a smal... 

or do they consider your lack of locks sterile enough jokingly yours G

LOL..!! But in production you can't wear any jewllery, deoderant, piercings, or make up either, and you have to wear a full tyvek suit with hairnet so no point in wearing a nice watch anyway All these patients who are fussy about hairs in their tablets..!...

It's OK to share all your anxieties! Actually I am careful with anything metal; zips, belt buckles, rivets, cufflinks, seat belts, etc. And I hate putting my hands into 'blind' cavities. Personal space was very important at IGOTT. LOL A

for a watch addict ... I myself am scared of cuff links, only wear silk knots these days. And do not get me started on plane seat belts, car seat belts, and walking in crowds. Best Andreas

Hi Andreas, I agree that aeroplanes are a risk. So many people moving around in confined spaces, and the overhead lockers and luggage provide plenty of opportunity to catch a watch on something metalic. For seats and seat belts it's either long sleeves or... 

The memory is still fresh in my mind.I was getting out of a taxi in Singapore 2 years ago and press the unlock , the seat belt recoiled back violently and the buckle hit my speedster and dinged it.I am now super careful.Cheers,dreamer.

.. with the rest of you.. - brick/cement walls: I'll definitely move my hand in - on plane: I normally take my watch off and put it in it's own hip pocket (ie, not sharing it with mobile phone/wallet etc) - cufflinks: Thank God I don't wear it often, but ... 

I am careful of all that has been said. I am also MOST careful of people as the pass you especially in crowded spaces. I am mindful of reaching into the pocket of my jeans. The clothes i wear, if it scratches my watch, well, then that's my fault. But peop...  

i'm with you on this Masterpiece. i'm thinking of leaving all my watches (including my G-Shock) in my safe so i know i'll never get them marked by press studs, walls, trouser pockets or even the special cleaning clothes they give away in goodie bags G...
