Horological Meandering

kudos go to MTF and the many unsung individuals...

who really took the time to look at the original proposal, deconstruct the intentions, spirit, and purpose, both of the watch itself and the intentions and spirit of the original individuals who conceived the project, and put the pieces back together to again reach a whole greater than the sum of the parts.

This watch is MORE than the sum of the parts, but this possibly cryptic statement will only have meaning to most people after they've owned it for awhile.

It isn't, and never was, meant to be a "fine watch" - it was never represented as such, is not represented as such, and for that, it is "pure."

If, like most other "brands" and "brands to be" do, this watch was priced according to industry standard "mulitples" it would be a $5000 plus watch.  It is not. Again, for this reason, it is "pure."

For the intended and stated use and functionality, it incorporates some obvious - pulse and respiration scales - and not so obvious choices - eta 2824 base movement - most made by actual practitioners in those fields (medical doctors, nurses/RN, watch collectors and industry professionals of many years experience) rather than some wannabe watch designers or fantasy Navy Seals. For this background, it is a "pure" watch.

It is not a "perfect watch" - such a watch does NOT exist, in my considered, 30 plus years old fart experience; and will never exist - but this watch was never claimed to be anything other than what it is. It is, what it is. Nothing more, nothing less. Again, for this reason, it is "pure."

The incabloc one piece case (with screw down back) designed to specifically lack nooks and crannies to build up crud and hide "nasty buggers;" the tractor like movement that just works...; the stronger than most PVD finishes currently available on most (even highly regarded) brands - can anyone say early IWC, Panerai, AP NY La Boutique or End of Days?; the high priority given to legibility in all lighting conditions; the selected higher grade than could have been chosen carbon fiber dial; the lack of superfluous design "flourishes" even though it is not quite "minimalist..."

Yes, for me, this is a true "purist" watch and yes, I have ordered a paid for piece that I hope to wear with pride.

For those that get it, welcome to the brotherhood/sisterhood!

And to those that don't, that's alright too. We don't discriminate on personal preferences.

MKVC, we should plan a get together to celebrate first deliveries!

Cheers,

TM
