Of the two I would have to pick the DJ, simply based on lifestyle, water resistance is a must for my watches, you could even go recreation diving with the DJ if you wanted to. The DJ could be the last watch you ever need to buy.
Tough one for me.... with regards to the finishing i would for jlc... if you want to be recognized from the airplane on what youre wearing then the rolex
At the end of day, i.might choose jlc in this case. Better value i think ...

If you had asked some years ago
I would probably have said the JLC. No easy answer. Now my answer is Rolex but perhaps with a more plain dial+bezel.
I am biased because my Rolex...
...has been virtually bullet-proof. It is a 'wear it and forget it' watch. Going hiking? Scuba diving? Wedding? Pretty versatile...

I’d go with the JLC
Rolexes have a industrial, machine built vibe to them. My understanding is that virtually nothing is done by hand anymore. The JLC might have a little more of the human touch.
