Fraud prevention

Colin,

Another reason to avoid showing serial numbers is to prevent someone from filing a fraudulent theft report about your watch.  This could cause problems not only with law enforcement agencies, but also with the manufacturer when the watch is sent for service.  While you may be able to avoid having it seized and being charged by producing your receipt for purchase, why invite these problems?
