Daily alarm - part 4

Apr 02, 2020,02:51 AM

Morning All A very different alarm this morning & one that I really appreciate. It's a Lanco Fon. A Swiss alarm again , but everything is driven off a single crown , with no additional buttons or pushers a very elegant implementation of an alarm. It even has an alarm readiness indicator at 12. The only downside is from my experience is that they're now quite fragile (not sure that's the right word) esp now they are now 50 odd years plus old. I'm now on my second one & still hope to get the first repaired at some point.

Cheers JML

Daily alarm - part 1

Hi All Thought I'd post an alarm a day for the next few days & share the alarm watches I have. As some of you may be aware it's my favourite complication. They'll be in no particular order , other than this post - as it's the first in the series I thought...

Nice and ususal

Also my favorite complication

I think vintage beats modern easily when it comes to alarms. Has there been any notable development lately? Would love to see the Bell-Matic resurrected as a Grand Seiko.

Reissue of a Bellmatic would be great!

Lots of choice if you go vintage.

Daily alarm - part 2

Hi All Second alarm of the series, moving from Russia to Japan & today's choice is a Seiko Bellmatic. My first automatic alarm. They come in such a variety of case styles and dial colours , you could probably just collect Bellmatics and still have a very ...

The Poljot

 By: jml_watches : March 31st, 2020-13:14
They have different approaches - the Poljot has a small pin on the inside of the case back. The Bellmatic has a sounding bar/spring which is more subtle, but still noticeable. Cheers JML

Hi All Today's alarm is the first Swiss on so far - but an iconic one. A Vulcan Cricket - has a great patina and a good size ( reflecting era when it was made). This one I guess is very early 60s as it still has a radium dial. Probably has the most verbos...

One of the icons for sure

Took me longer than expected to get one, bit it's about finding a nice one. Cheers JML

Still worth it!

If you want loud - they're a great choice, also alarm is very distinctive. They're not large - mines around 35, but plenty of presence. They're a good choice, but then if I'm honest almost all alarms are a good choice! Cheers JML

I like mine a lot, one of my longest-owned (least-worn) watches

I got it in NOS condition and it's still pristine. Cazalea ...

I really like this version - very 70s feel to it

Hi Another day, another alarm - this is a real hardship for me . Today is a another Swiss alarm from the late 90s early 00s. It's another icon of alarm watches - it is my Memovox. Great manual wound version with the open caseback. Cheers JML ...

Daily alarm - part 6

 By: jml_watches : April 4th, 2020-01:29
Hi All In a very long queue for the supermarket this morning, time to post another alarm. Thought I'd go with the one that went in wristscan - full on 70s vibe, gold plated case and metallic brown dial. Looks fab on its jangling two tone bracelet. One of ...

 By: jml_watches : April 5th, 2020-00:52
Hi A week of alarms! Never knew that I'd get here or that there was such variety for just one complication. Today another automatic alarm, this time by Omega - my Memomatic. Fab watch , not the smallest by any means and I wonder what the response was when...

Another nice one. When you have enough time....

How about a video where we can compare the sounds of each alarm?

Now there's a thought!

In the meantime if you go to YouTube and search for armbandwecker, you'll find a channel by someone even more obsessed by alarms than me! Should give you an idea of what most sound like. Though it also sounds like I've a project at some point! Cheers JML

Daily alarm - part 8

Morning Last alarm of the series, but by no means the least. It's an Oris Wristalarm from the late nineties. It may be small - but it's definitely mighty. Nice and loud Cheers JML ...
