Wearing a watch on the inside of your wrist

 By: amerix : May 19th, 2012-10:21
Has anyone tried that out recently? Either one will do for a start, but beware of disaster when strapping it on, taking it off, or reaching out for something and hitting the edge of a table. One advantage is that you can get the time off a watch fast - wi...

Very old school

It seems that this was very common in the 1970's but mostly with the older generation. I agree it is easier to read the time with a quick glance but the possibility of damage to the watch far out weighs the advantages. Bill

Thanks for the reply, Bill

From early childhood I used think that persons who did That were secretive - or somewhat odd - and perhaps using it as a signal to members of their particular group Today, I'm not so sure. We all send out signals - the best being if and when we want to! H...

I would be wearing a Sarpaneva Supernova - on the outside! amerix

He also wears it on his right wrist

The combination is hard to beat! amerix

I would not even think about it.

My father in law does it with a cheap Quartz Watch ( yes, nobody is perfect... ) and I see the result. The watch is totally scratched and dinged. No, I love my watches too much to only see their buckle. Moreover, the buckles are not the mostr appealing pa...

Definitely not for me!

I would worry, worry, worry. Even if it was a beater, I'd hate to damage it. I'm not precious about my watches, but I don't want to increase the likelihood of damage. Cheers, Daos

Now don't get me wrong :-)

I am not advocating doing this! It would obviously afford protection if you went around bumping into doorways and walls. But we never do that, now do we? So try this only at home. Hold on - wait a minute - that's not such a good idea either! Think about w...

... my father doing this. Wore it on his right hand (he's right handed) and on a flexible expanding bracelet in the 1970's. He doesn't do that now, so maybe it was a fashionable thing at the time. I will have to ask him if her remembers why. He's a very p...

my dad has always done it, but he is 83

i think he started it during his national service when he was in the Fleet Air Arm and on board ships it stops the glass knocking on steel bulkheads. G

An excellent reason!

I have done thiat several times recently, to the point of feeling no disturbing difference - except on deployant bracelets. Just never risk dropping it on the floor when putting it on or taking it off - the usual contortions and gyrations with an unfamili...

Amerix, have you tried putting an ABR PPro on for the first few times. that really ties you up in knots. its not the best designed buckle, but the watch has other benefits. G

My repeated efforts, even after switching the two pieces of strap from up to down have been among the least rewarding of my horological experience. Sheer fumbling torment. However, it did get my pulse racing! II also loses around 7 to 10 secs per day in a...

but I work with a lot of tactical operators (law enforcement and military) who wear there watches on the inside of the wrist. Mostly G-Shocks and Suntos not Submariners as the myth would have you believe. I know marksmen who do it to allow them to read th...

Delon was indeed playing Le Samourai, a film by Jean-Pierre Melville. Now imagine - if this character or person had been standing and waiting for hours at his post of surveillance, as immobile as a statue - or a Wooden Indian - then by a slight adjustment...

that Delon's watch colection was auctioned off and an AP Royal Oak of his fetched quite a premium. Regarding the colaboration with JP Journe, Delon also designed a range of sunglases which were very popular in Hong Kong after Chow Yun Fat wore them in a f...

Perhaps he is looking at a Euro coin converted into a buckle - minted for Greece?
