While I think it's something to look at when a watch misbehaves, it's certainly not something I worry about.

All my watches behave very well and I don't protect them from anything magnetic. Of course operating a MRI machine or something like it, I'd probably research it, and it's affects on me as well.

Magnetism

I came across this interesting article at Dinkee regarding movement magnetization and how to demagnetize them ( ). It got me thinking; what strength of magnetic fields am I exposing my watches to on a daily basis? Bedside not wearing my omega speedie wit...

Laptop = 1400 Gauss😱😱😱😱

Well, that makes ALL modern rolexes susceptible (in our everyday life).

Yes, indeed. ;)

I only had a watch being magnetized once - and the using the procedure from the article you quoted...it solved the problem

I could never figure what caused it and on top of it is was a Breguet with a silicon balance spring! That said I always have an ipad, phone, computer near my watch and so far it has not caused any issus

None of my watches (or those of my collector friends) have had a sudden change in rate to indicate magnetization...

And we are around laptops and speakers all day long. Hell, some of them have haute horologie movements without a silicon hair-spring of protective iron core cage in sight

While I think it's something to look at when a watch misbehaves, it's certainly not something I worry about.

No concerns

When there is a problem with your watch you can allways demagnetize the watch yourself, you can buy a demagnetizer online for aprox 15 till 20€ . Lots of vids about how to do it yourself,
