I think MB&F are given praise by serious watch enthusiasts because the watches have movements designed by the best of the best watchmakers in the world and they use the best materials and finish their watches on the level of the highest end brands. As to my personal taste their designs are too extreme for me. I like Uwerk and Ressence, both push the envelope as far as design goes but their finished products still look like watches where MB&F pieces do not in my opinion. I don't think Seven Friday cares whether the "serious watch enthusiast" likes their watches or not. I think a watch at the price point they are at is more about fashion, design, look. The person who wears a Seven Friday watch is probably not concerned about the movement in the watch. They like the way it looks and that it reliably tells the time, but I imagine a watch is not as important to them as the person who looks at MB&F, Uwerk, etc. We purists have to remember there is a large segment of the population that wants a watch that looks cool, tells the time, but is inexpensive and does not need to be made of the finest materials. I may be wrong but I think Seven Friday fits in this watch category. The fact that Seven Friday and MB&F both can be successful selling a product that does the same thing, tell time, just goes to show that there is something out there for everyone's taste.
