Sir David Salomons' Personal Watches (pre-Breguet)

Though usually David Salomons conjures the ghost of Breguet, David Salomons came to Breguet late in life; enclosed are two of David Salomons' personal watches well-before his Breguet days...

Leroy & Cie No. 69999 (case) circa 1890, engraved with David Salomons 2nd Baronet coat-of-arms (minute-repeater, grande sonnerie)

William French quarter-repeater circa 1850 No. 5683, inscribed: Return to Sir David Salomons, Broomhill, Tunbridge Wells

Breguet fans may remember both watches were slated for the Sotheby's 2020 auction (lots 242 and 222 enclosed) but were withdrawn from the sale along with two other personal watches of David Salomons (lots 240 and 241); these watches did not receive the fanfare of the Breguet watches withdrawn from the sale.

Two watches belonging to Sir David Salomons and engraved with his coat-of-arms are found in the enclosed book; these watches were not to my knowledge for whatever reason slated for the 2020 Sotheby's sale like the four watches (ultimately withdrawn from t...
