Same here. The trend with new watches is these giant elaborate boxes, but you can’t wear a box.

Do you consider a Patek with an Extract from the Archives as constituting “with papers”? I think not because that can be had at any time. So if a Patek has an Extract plus a box, how is this more valuable than a Patek without both other than the mere cost...

I'm also for the classical definition of "with papers" to mean "with all the documents the watch was originally sold with"...

In any event, a grey dealer/auction house listing a watch "with papers" should make it clear if they only mean with an extract from the archives....in doubt, simple ask ;-) Cheers.
