Pivoting Sapphire Crystal Question.
22 or 23 years ago I had a watch with a crystal that sat on the watch face on a hinge and it could be opened by pulling on a small knob thus exposing the dial. The watch had a moon phase and the numbers were not raised so the watch was not for the blind.
I have always wondered why the crystal was hinged and pivotal. Does anyone remember seeing this and know the explanation?
