when marine cronometers walked on Land reminding of it's heritage on sea... or the watch industry is retro, vintage, whatever all along and only with Quartz the swiss realized nobody needed it anymore, ever, unless they went one level up with mechanical heritage, father-son, pilot, space, many other marketing hypes.

We can’t call it a fashion fling anymore like we did at the beginning of the introduction of vintage inspired watches. They are here to stay, as it seems. Who was the first anyway? Was it the Longines Legend Diver? That cool orange Doxa diver? Or did Pane...  

IWC did it with the Portuguese Jubilée, in the 90's. AP with the Royal Oak approximatively at the same time, Omega with the Speedmaster, too, Panerai with the Pre V since 1993...

And so on... With many other brands. It is not a recent phenomenon. There is some place for iconic models, references, and there always be a place for them, in my opinion. Nothing bad nor wrong with that! Best, Nicolas

"They are here to stay." I hope so, because the traditional watchmaking do not change too much. This is included in the word "tradition".

Some brands, i dont want to say the names, are walking on a narrow ridge. modern design is not durable because this is not the tradition. If it is only to make every year more money, it is not the right way. I am really concerned, when i see this monster ...
