I have a somewhat similar Bucherer that has a Felsa Bidynator movement.

Mine is not chronometer-rated, but I have seen other Bucherer chronometers with Bidynators.

I’ve been wearing some of my vintage pieces the past few days.

This is today’s choice. Stainless, 34mm, automatic, chronometer. One of my favorite vintage watches. ...

Was wearing the Omega Marine Standard . . .

. . . for three consecutive days, . . . . . . switched to Dad's '66 Seiko Sea Lion . . . . . . today. There's a certain comfort afforded by our vintage watches . . . they convey the enduring passage of time. Hope all's tolerable with you, Emil. And thanks...

Omega apparently thought highly enough about that particular dial variation . . .

. . . that they included one in Omegamania. Not sure how the 4 disappeared on mine. The dial's original, but odd how the single marker is visible only in outline. Art ...

Art, I lost a marker on my Gerald Genta once

and found it later in the date window. Not the same as fading or paint falling off, but still not anticipated as part of the vintage experience! Mike Since restoring it to its proper hole the marker has behaved itself. ...

Such a beautiful watch, vintage is just paramount

when it is about elegant and well-designed watches. It can be very rewarding when you look at vintage watches beyond the hyped brands, your watch is another example to prove that.

Great vintage piece

Looks as if it’s new.

Thanks. Yes, in person it looks like it was never worn.

I went to a large coin show years ago and one of the larger coin dealers had this watch just randomly placed in one of his many coin display cases. I almost didn’t see it. Not surprisingly it was the only watch in the entire show, and it was ridiculously ...

What a nice story.

So you always have to keep your eyes open for surprises even in unexpected circumstances. This watch bug got me, but I managed to stop after 3 watches in less than a year, in the sense that I know what I’ll buy next and I have the means to proceed but I’m...

Before the pandemic I spent at least a week of every month for over 25 years going to local auctions. Not specifically watch auctions, but there were usually a few watch’s in most sales.

Then in 2004, after I retired, my wife and I spent even more time at auctions. She eventually accepted a job with one of them run by a friend of ours managing their jewelry sales. Since I was unofficially involved with the auction, and a friend of the own...

Thank you for

taking the time and sharing your story with me. I didn’t know you were a professional and such an expert on vintage paraphernalia on so many subjects, now the state of the vintage piece you are wearing makes more sense. I got the watch bug a little over o...

I try to avoid those shows and antique dealers now, as my level of resistance isn't that high if/when the right piece appears

I controlled myself at the luxury watch store when offered my choice of Habring2s but had a breakdown in discipline at the watch fair and came home with this beauty. I convinced myself it could be a buddy to my Bulova Accutron pendant / pocket watch. Espe...

Nice buy!

Back thirty years ago there were watch shows almost every month local to me. Now, nothing. I miss those days but you’re right, it’s hard to go to shows and not spend more than you know you should. A question about my Bucherer that I think you could answer...

Removing a split crown

I do it with a pair of tweezers, inserting like this: You may want to rotate 90° so the tweezers are perpendicular to the case. Being careful to pick the right tweezers and take care so you don’t bend them. Sometimes you can just slide them in and that wi...

Well

resisting to those Habrings should be hard. The only part that does not really convince me about Habrings are the cases, they are a bit underwhelming, with those beautiful movements one waits for a less bland case but… anyhow thanks for joining in and sha...

You probably would have crossed paths with my uncle

He is a ringleader in the Ephemera Society and can't stay away from flea markets, auctions, dealers etc. in the NJ - PA - NY - CT areas. Of course that's a big patch to cover but he's been scouring primarily for things like fabrics, match boxes, single-ed...

Lovely watch!

I don't have a sense of how popular Bucherer was in the US decades ago -- if they were commonly owned or sold here. I'm curious about that.

Thanks. I’d also like knowing if they were popular in the US. I’m only familiar with the brand through finding them for sale at local auctions and estate sales.

I don’t know much about the brand as it exists today but they appear to make some interesting pieces.
