Chrono advice

Aug 27, 2011,05:17 AM

I am looking at adding a chrono to my small and fairly new collection and really like the look of the Tudor Heritage Chrono as well as the Tudor Grantour Chrono, but find very little info on the internet about their movements, except a few posts on other forums expressing concern about the durability of the Heritage Chrono's movement. Can anybody help please?

Or should I rather look at an Omega Speedmaster? Or any other recommendations in similar price range? Or wait until I can afford a Rolex Daytona?

Your comments will be greatly appreciated.

The Tudor is a favourite of mine, but I think you shld go for the Omega speedy, preferably with the 1861 caliber. Cheers, Horo

uses an ETA base movement with a D. Depraz chrono module piggy back on top. So , it is not an integrated chronograph movement, compared to say the omega speedmaster with the lemania 1861. Reputed to be difficult to service for the D.Depraz module and usua...

In your place, I'd consider the Zenith El Primero, a handsome watch, from a top class manufacturer, with an in-house movement and as much of a rich heritage as comes with any a chronograph you can buy. All the best with whichever you do pick up in the end...

...priced well and an icon. I also enjoy my El Primero, though I sought an older one out, one that used the 400 movement (as used in the older Daytonas).

the Speedmaster is an Icon and the one i'd go for.

the El primero is a great movement, but it may be better to get the speedy first, study the different properties and benefits of different movement beat rates then perhaps get the El Primero as your second chrono. we all have different opinions which is w...

A Speedmaster Moon is a fantastic looking watch with a dependable movement (not COSC) and wears perfectly. As a second option any El Primero chronograph is also be a great chronograph but, recently, I feel that manual wind watches carry more fun. Cheers
