had my grammy's watch for ,wow, over 10 years now, but i bought the little magnifier not for the watch but because it sounded neat to view. So this last week after i ran out of things to magnify i remembered the watch and that's when it all happened. I am still so amazed at such workmanship and almost feel ive been missing out not knowing of theseb things till now. The stretch band on it was the first thing i was able to read, btw, would you happen to know where i would be looking to find a calibre number that blomman said might be on the watch? The only other number i can see is very faint and looks scratched in, unlike the others, its hard to see . If you look real close you can see 39.. but again, don't know if it has meaning. There is also GXM on the watch. Is the watch what you refer to as the movement?

Yes, the loupe system is there for $525, and there is the Hastings Bausch & Lomb triplet 10x, but is there anything in between?

They make great loupes in both 6x and 10x with long eye relief for less than $200.

Got one and returned it...

The magnification of the loupe I received is nowhere near 10X. It's 6X at best, even though it's labeled 10X. The magnification is about the same as the Loupe System 6X (which I have and compared it to) except the Deutsche Optik has a significantly smalle...

i use something like this when modelling 30-50US at the most (you should get a x20 for 25 US max, any more and its like paying 5k for a 100 dollar seiko hehe) the high magnifications (Ive seen them up to x50) the one shown below is 10-20 US, mine comes wi...

Perhaps I've been hoodwinked?

This thread caught my eye because (try to keep the laughs to a minimum ) but i happened to see an ad for Walmart of all places with a little hand held piece claiming to be 60x and on clearance for around six bucks, so i had to see. This is what i used to ...

Walmart can be good and bad, first just like watches you need a reference to compare it to.

I would suggest to shop around, you'd also be surprised how some hardware stores, jewellery supply stores and those mom and pop hardware shops have occasional sales where you can get one of these Jeweller's headbands for cheaper, or a tad more expensive b...

No worries my pleasure :) , as for the movement number, it might not have one, and we'll have to search for a comparable movement online. Let me explain below.

The GXM (or GXN maybe?) you are referring to is probably an import mark to designate the movement is imported into the US, some other brands had similar marks, for example Vacheron and Constantin had VXN on their movements to designate American import etc...
