What constitutes a "Limited Edition" anything…
A recent post on the Patek Philippe forum, left me thinking.
This topic has probably been discussed before,so I apologise if it has.
But I would be interested to read what other members think?
Patek Philippe claim that 1,300 pieces of their 5975 is a limited edition, true no more then that will be made, but is that not too high a figure, to warrant the "Limited Edition" tag?
Or does sufficient numbers have to be made to justify the costs, time etc?
Personally to me, around 100-200 pieces worldwide would be classified as limited.

First thing that comes to mind when thinking limitations
is Panerai and their OOR policy ;) Yes I think that 1300 number is too big bu then again no one ever put benchmark for limitation number in fact we can talk that every watch is limited edition after its producing has stopped cos only finite number is made...

A too high number to actually make any difference. But what buggs me even more is the LE on a LE. When they change a small detail on the "normal" LE and then releases a second LE of the same watch! Best Blomman

Those numbers need to be qualified further (if one appreciates a LE)...
What do "50.000 watches per year" mean, and what 400? If a company produces 25 references with a volume of 2000 each, then 1000 is not very special. If the smaller brand produces 400 watches but only of one reference, then 20 may mean something. If course...
