I’m a sucker for the Concord C1 line. Some (who paid full price) regretted it, and certainly many fell under Vincent Perriard’s spell without considering whether MGI could (or would) sustain a higher-end brand. But MGI still has some old stock that they occasionally dribble out at ridiculous prices. At 22 cents on the dollar, one can hardly go wrong even with such a boldly styled watch.
Also, I am recovering from (successful) cancer surgery, and decided I needed a treat.
I already have two C1’s, a first-gen Big-Date, ands a second-gen (like this one) chronograph in black titanium and rose gold. I love that watch, but won’t wear it where the gold is too gaudy, and let’s face it, the Concord C1 is already rather gaudy. This one I have admired in the past—more understated (if that word isn’t preposterous in this context) and more sporty with the red accents.
The case is Grade 5 titanium, black DLC on the body and matte finish on the bezel, with a black titanium deployant of high quality. The movement is a Valgranges A07.211, chronometer certified. The strap is the usual second-gen C1 sandwich of hide and rubber, but the hide is leather with a sewn-in fabric (Cordura?) stripe down the middle, using red thread.
It’s a big watch at 47mm, but I have an 8” wrist.

Have a great week,
