The performance of my manual-winding cal 22 . . .

. . . was excellent right out of the box, and although I haven't performed any rigorous tests yet, it seems to be ~ +1 sec/day. I have a fair amount of experience with the cal 39 automatics, and they've exhibited a wide range of timing accuracy, but they've also exhibited a very high degree of rate stability. For example, my second G O was a Senator power reserve that ran +21 sec/day right out of the box, and was about the same when I sent it in for service after four years; it came back adjusted to +8 sec/day, and remained there until I parted with it several months later. My first G O was a cal 39 Karree chrono that essentially ran perfectly out of the box when I acquired it in 2001, and was running perfectly when I sold it a few years later; it gained ~ 60 seconds over an 18 week period when it was continuously either on my wrist or a winder - performance which borders on the phenomenal. My second Karree perpetual ran ~ -8 sec/day out of the box when I acquired it in late 2004, and only lately have I noticed a slight improvement in timing performance (which might be an indication that it's time for service!). I don't have any experience with the cal 100, but I'd let it settle in for a few months before sending it back for regulation . . . +15 sec/day is not acceptable, in my opinion, for a modern watch, so keep tabs on it for the next several weeks so you can give G O a meaningful report of the timing performance if it doesn't improve with break-in. Cordially, Art
