The platinum version had an elaborately stamped/guillochéd dial treatment, but that looked over-the-top busy to me. There's enough going on on the dial already, and I think the plain gray better suits the watch's sort of "steampunk" styling.

I've always felt that the best light in which to see a watch is an overcast day.

I guess I should count myself lucky that we get so many of those around here.
