Ah, the serene . . .

. . . Glashütte!

Ever since I began following Glashütte Original, I've been intrigued by the lack of a truly iconic design emanating from their design bureaus. Unlike Rolex with the Submariner, Omega with the Speedmaster, or Panerai with the Base, there doesn't seem to be a single design that instantly comes to mind upon hearing the words "Glashütte Original".

That may be changing now with the advent of the Senator Chronometer, but short of this pending denoeument, my sense is the one design that most often comes to mind when the subject of Glashütte Original arises is the PanoMatic Lunar, in any of its guises. The grey XL is the most subtle of them all, but the beauty of the design is still apparent.
