Note Prototype, Private Collection Luigi Macaluso. Designed and developed in 2003 by Luigi Macaluso on the suggestion of a Formula 1 pilot, the R&D 01 is the ultimate automobile-inspired watch, both in its technical functions and its esthetic: the inverted chronograph pushbuttons (on the left side of the case) allow for easier use while driving; the internal revolving bezel may be used as for count-down; the crown of the internal bezel, set at 4, is easily accessible and makes the watch extremely legible; the crown cover, with its soft, rounded forms, is inspired the aerodynamic design of a race car: the back is screwed down with six Imbus screws, the same ones that are used in mounting race car motors: the numerals on the dial are reminiscent of the numbers painted on race cars. Internal revolving bezel; and a 24 hour indication.
