Owners review: Girard-Perregaux Carré Cambré Chronograph 2499

 By: crown comfort : September 19th, 2017-23:12
Friends, Let’s have a closer look at one watch from my collection that holds a special place, the Chronograph Carré Cambré 2499. It came into my collection in October 2014, so it’s coming up for its 3 rd anniversary. However, the Carré Cambré has a longer...

A really nice watch

Thanks for the report

Thank you for this detailed look at this 2499!

A stunning watch! (And a nightmare to take in photos). Interesting to see the production numbers - not high numbers for any of the watches. Guess it goes well with the GP slogan "Watches for the few"! Best Blomman

Thanks, my friend.

Yes, some quite low production numbers even by GP standards. Taking photos of it is really hard, but once in a while, some come out quite well, but they cannot do the watch justice when seen in the metal.

Wonderful review my friend : beautiful pics, many insightful infos to read, we learn a lot about both CC and these 2 references ;)

 By: Mike H : September 20th, 2017-02:15
I must say that I like a lot this cushion shape case so these 2 tick this box perfectly . On top of that I am biaised as ref 2499 rings a (Patek) bell in my mind as being a mythic iconic fantastic reference, so these digits 2 4 9 9 do sound like magic in ...

Thanks a lot, Mike. Yes "2499" is

 By: crown comfort : September 20th, 2017-02:43
a magic number. Hmm, I wonder if there is a GP with Ref 3448 as well.

The 2498 and 2499 clearly offers much more sensuality compared to the 2598 in my opinion (too thick)

 By: Alkiro1 : September 20th, 2017-02:20
Then, between these both timepieces, I have a soft spot for the 2498 and its white dial even if the 2499 has a "purer" dial (no date and sub dial at 6). I like when you conclude by saying "square the circle". The perfect definition for this unusual case 😉...

Thanks Alkiro for the input

 By: crown comfort : September 20th, 2017-02:44
interesting that you prefer the 2498 over the 2499. I think in white it is a fantastic watch even with the date.

Is it a rarer version compared to the other ones?

Best wishes Alkiro

I listed the production numbers in the text

 By: crown comfort : September 20th, 2017-06:35
of the 2499 white dial 183 pieces were produced

Sorry my mistake

No problem, :))) [nt]

very nice GP

I had the monopusher version. Loved it. Great pics btw...😊 best ed

Thanks Ed for the kind words

 By: crown comfort : September 20th, 2017-04:12
Monopusher? Do you have any photos? Or do you mean the Rattrapante like the one just shown by Gelato? www.watchprosite.com Thanks, CC

Of the ones you posted in this thread, my favorite is the 2598.

 By: Luis6 : September 20th, 2017-04:15
But you are right, the 2499 combines the best parts of the 2598 and 2498.

Thanks Luis

I found that the 2598 and the 2499 have very different characters. Not sure what it is, but I suspect it has to do with the Guilloche dial and its more grey appearance.

Superb review and amazing rare specimen

Once again bravo! I have strong affection for these refs Cheers D

Thanks D! I think the 2499 or 2498

 By: crown comfort : September 20th, 2017-06:24
is a good entry into modern GPs, quite affordable if you can find one.

Thanks for the review

Thanks CC for the great review. An opportunity for me to get to know the ref. 2499, and to get more details on this 2498 / 2499 series. As owner of a 2498 I can only confirm that I love this watch, the case has a very uncommon shape which renders it quite...

Thanks montres1 for your inputs

 By: crown comfort : September 20th, 2017-06:26
we would love to see your 2498, so when you get a chance to take some photos would great. I share to some extent your sentiments about the DD module, but I have to say a modular Chronograph design is nothing to be ashamed of in that price range. As for co...

Erratum

 By: montres1 : September 20th, 2017-07:59
My mistake I got mixed up with the references ! Actually I have a 2598 with black dial ! I agree on the fact that the DD module is not an issue as such, I just meant that it becomes thicker and I have this issue with the crown / comfort. For the rest grea...

Thorough report, CC.

Excellent. I know this is de rigeur around here but the watch does look better without a date. One thing about GP chronographs-their casework is just excellent. The cases have a "massive" feel and appearance without being too big on the wrist. This is ano...

Great review, and very nice GP.

Probably a very good value if able to be located. I wonder how something similar would fare if offered by GP with an upgraded movement in today's market. Cheers, John

Thanks John, interesting idea

 By: crown comfort : September 20th, 2017-23:06
I'm not 100% the case shape would really hit today's taste and could become a big success like the Laureato. Perhaps in a few years, but when we allow us wishes, how would I love to see that integrated manual Chronograph movement from GP in a 2-register, ...

Advice on my GP 2498

 By: Kannan Ramakrishnan : December 25th, 2018-19:57
Hi, I have a GP 2498 with a black dial and I have had an issue with it stopping intermittently even if I have been wearing it all day. I have had the watch overhauled but the issue continues. Have you encountered this or have any advice on the cause of th...

Hi Kannan, welcome here!

 By: crown comfort : December 26th, 2018-00:30
your problem sounds like that the watch needs service. I did not have that problem and it is not something common. You said that the watch was overhauled. Was that done through a GP AD? If so, they would provide you with a warranty for 12 months after ser...
