Reference 88881

Jul 18, 2021,05:56 AM

Originally I was looking for a King Seiko high beat in the late 60s, and then I learned about 1967 neuchatel observatory competition and GP's accomplishment

and there goes the rabbit hole....

As title suggested, I just purchased a Reference 8888 1 (I asked the vendor to check the lug), and am waiting for the package
The watch seems to be in great shape

Per Vendor, the watch has been serviced, but the timegrapher report seems "off", based on what this watch can do (or so I thought)

Is this something to be concerned?

How to find out which year this watch is made?

Thanks

Thanks amanico and kev09 This purchase hit 2 first for me * First GP (probably not last ) * First square watch As a general rule of thumb, do I need to take GP watch to watch maker specialized for this brand for service/repair, or any reputable person can...

Finally received the watch

when I tried to "hack" the seconds hand while setting time initially, the watch was running consistently +15 seconds per day for 2 -3 days Just for the fun of it, I put it down, and let the power run down then I adjusted time without worrying about the se...

The caliber could definitively tell you the manufacture date. Without "hack" feature and in the 8888 case with that dial, you may have a cal 32A, one of the 662 manufactured in 1967. Ive attached a pic of my 8888 with 32A. I also have an 888 with 42.1 (al...
