Problems with Vintage 1945

I recently purchased the above watch with small seconds and power reserve new. I wore the watch for a couple of weeks and it kept fairly good time losing about 4 seconds per day consistently. I put the watch away for about a month and now even when fully wound it just seems to stop inexplicably. The balance wheel seems to turn erratically than stop.  Also I noticed when I took it out of storage the power reserve indicator had not returned to zero.  These problems seem to be lessening as I wear the watch now for a few days. I was told that the watches are sometimes 'tight'  when they come from the factory and need to be worn for awhile. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this as I have not seen it before with other new watches? I'm sure everyone cringes at the thought of having to send a new watch back to be opened up at  the service center. Thanks all as always for any input.
