Girard-Perregaux Chrono Hawk Pink Gold, Novelty 2014

Chrono Hawk Pink Gold, Reference: 49970-34-633-BB6B

Pink Gold, ceramic and rubber – It feels like a natural development for the Chrono Hawk this year. This year’s entire collection from GP is dominated by Pink Gold and black (with some blue exceptions).

The by now characteristic angular Hawk case goes very well in brushed Pink Gold! Compared with the steel and the all black we have seen earlier this year, I think this is my favourite! The warm glow of the gold really brings out all the angels of the case.

Even if I normally prefer white metal, this time I would go for the gold case. If you compare with the steel case, I think you understand why. The shape of the case is not as pronounced in steel as in Pink Gold.

Scratch proof ceramic with a Vicker hardness of 1400 is used for the bezel, crown guard and crown/pushers. Micro grains with a diameter of 0.2 microns are compressed at very high pressure to build these parts.

Big visible luminous hands and indexes. The typical Hawk pattern on the dial.

The dial is very deep and three dimensional and to enhance this, the minute track is on the inside of the bezel.

Actually, not only the dial is very 3D, the case as well.

Here seen from another angle.

Inside is the GP03300 automatic Manufacture movement. 431 components, 61 Jewels, power reserve min 46 hours.

Functions: Hour, minute, small second, 30 minutes chronograph and date.

Folding buckle, black technological rubber, coated with black alligator.

I must say its surprising how smooth and supple this strap is!

Much more easy going than the steel bracelet on the blue…

I will end this closer look on the Chrono Hawk PG with a series on the wrist snapshots, just to show you how very well crafted the Hawk case really is.

Another point is that even if this is a big sport watch (44.00 mm) is doesn’t wear too big on the wrist!

A rain drop, should not be any problem. This watch is water resistant down to 100 meters.

Slightly doomed crystal.

And then we have the “Blomman” angle – yes, approved! wink

I must say that I find the Chrono Hawk in Pink Gold very appealing! Maybe it is because I have got used to these big Pink Gold cases this year or because all the well-crafted cases from Girard-Perregaux show the details better in gold. I don’t know. But I know I like this one a lot! smile

And you?! Would you go for the gold or hold on to the steel…?
