First of all, great post and congrats on your new addition - may it time your journeys with utmost precision and style 
Was checking some watches after reading your post and found - to my surprise - that GP was not the only supplier to Canadian Railways in the 1960s. Seems there are fairly similarly designed Longines watches for the same customer, too (saw a 1966 one).
Canada? Canada!
Now what has Canada to do with watches? And even more with Girard-Perregaux?? If we think of Canada, we think nature or Maple Syrup. Or even better, Canadian Icewine! But watches? Perhaps there is a connection. And it has to do with the Canadian Railway. ...
I saw one like this! I passed on it because I had some doubts. Damn me.

As I said, very high up on my hunt list! A theme I hold very dear - Amagnetic.... A dream lineup together with this Railtimer would be the PP Amagnetic, Rolex Milguss, Omega Railmaster, IWC Ingenieur, Eterna Scintograf and JLC Geophysic.... Best Blomman

I have not been able to find any info on production numbers. I do know that the manual wind HF movements have been rather scarce and not long in production. Maybe we can find out some info via our contacts at the manufacture (if they know more)

True
correct that other manufactures also delivered to the Canadian Railway. GP also provided some Gyromatics and Quartz watches, but the manual wind HF movement with hacking seconds and Chronometer spec is kind of special
