I agree with your summary after a personal inspection of the new Laureato family.
The 904L steel alloy used is the same as Rolex and I don't know of current users of that steel amongst the big brands.
It allows for fine finishing as seen here between the satin brushing and mirror polish of flat and curved surfaces. here are six different surfaces.

The anthracite dial is an alternative variant if blue is too wishy washy a colour for some.
I would choose the rubber strap for convenience and function...more water resistant than leather but not a heavy metal bracelet.
