A few pictures of the Girard Perregaux Bi Axial Tourbillon, Ref 99810.
This Bi Axial Tourbillon came, though ears, in different metals, but one of the most surprising is this one, which has a Tantalum Case.
It has been said that Tantalum is one of the toughest material to work, hence its name.
But the most important, with Tantalum, is the color, a kind of grey blue tonality, which, in my opinion, is one of the most pleasant to see.
The inconvenient is the weight, which is very important, even more when the case, like here, has some important dimensions ( 45 mm big / 19, 25 mm high ).
Well, this is something I could live with, as I absolutely adore this Watch, its dark and very strong allure with this undisputable touch of sophistication, due to the use of... Sapphire bridges, and, of course, the bi axial tourbillon, which is really magic.
For the reminder, here is the description on how the Bi Axial Tourbillon works:
" An internal cage bearing the balance wheel, balance spring and escapement completes one full turn on its axis in forty-five seconds. In addition, an external cage completes one revolution in one minute and fifteen seconds, enabling a rotation on its second axis. A full revolution is completed in three minutes and forty-five seconds. "
I much prefer it to the Titanium DLC version, as I am not a big fan of black cased watches.
Here are the few pictures I could take at the Salon Des Belles Montres, those I took during my trip at the Manufacture were awful....
For once, I like a lot the Dauphine Hands on this Watch, which match quite well with the Arrow bridges, I find.
A pure and strong marvel from GP, limited to 12 pieces, only.
Best,
Nicolas
