GP or PF??

 By: Bob L. : October 1st, 2023-00:49
With apologies for asking about the relative merits of two watches—which I understand will vary from person to person—I am currently torn between a classic blue-dialed GP Laureato and the Parmigiani PF Tonda Micro-Rotor. To me, the GP is a bit more casual...

I like the GP very much.

Was considering one recently. Have you seen the one with the black onyx dial? Pretty cool.

Thank you

The onyx dial is cool!

Thanks!

Glad you see the Tonda as casual, too.

Not a glamorous shot, but here they are, side by side. ...

IMHO the GP is more versatile looks good anywhere, The PF is more dressy and individual

between the two I personally pick the laureato

Thank you!

I’m biased

As you rightly mentioned only you can decide but as for me…

I would go for the GP. Let your heart decide, take the one that makes your heart beat faster 😉

I am going to disagree with most people here

I am not a fan of the Laureato. It looks derivative and is only popular (in my controversial opinion) because people can't get a Royal Oak. The PF is a fantastic watch, with a much better design, better movement and from a better brand.

Controversial is one thing and being presumptuous is another thing altogether

 By: SingaporeMarc : October 1st, 2023-18:20
I have both royal oaks and laureatos in my collection. I like them both and they are quite different. So no, the laureato is not for those that “can’t get” the RO. It’s for those that can appreciate and respect both brands and models. See and celebrate th...

I am not trying to offend anyone

At the end of the day this isn't exactly a GP forum, it's a subsection of a general forum. I'm sure many enthusiasts love both the Royal Oak and the Laureato. I can't afford either so I'm not here to make any judgment in that sense, but I don't find it to...

The new PF are better watches comparing to the GP

I prefer the GP design. However, you should consider the Alpine Eagle as well.

Probably the GP for me.

 By: vitalsigns : October 1st, 2023-13:07
GP pros: -Likely a longer-lasting design than the PF -Beautiful blue dial yet that is subtle -Cost less than PF, and can easily find preowned for further savings if willing to buy used -Multiple sizes (38 and 42mm) -More versatile than PF -Not a look-at-m...

Thanks for all the helpful posts!

I appreciate all the input—it is all very helpful. I confess that I am leaning toward the GP, largely because I am looking for a casual watch that can be worn with anything at any time. The PF is beautiful and sleek—often a big plus—but that may be a draw...

As Nico said, consider the 38 mm

 By: SingaporeMarc : October 1st, 2023-18:28
Personally, I would recommend the laureato ref 81000 heritage 225 42 mm on the left. 41 mm on the right which is 41 mm but wears more like a 40 mm. 225 is blue dial and 225 in silver dial It’s the perfect size between the 38 mm and the 42 mm. I have some ...

From a recent coffee meet up with my buddy in Singapore.

He too has many royal oaks (15202, 50th anniversary skeleton and more) and PP etc. And he has the laureato 41 mm heritage 225 as well. The laureato 41 mm heritage 225 in his collection as well. He has both the blue and the silver dial laureato. Same as me...

The Laureato is a cool watch. Very comfortable, versatile. 😊

You will love the watch. Here is a picture of mine. Cheers. 🥃💨 Geross. ...
