Hi Niblita: I can fully understand your situation. Like you, my "dream" of a "hi end" watch began in 1998 when I saw the Corum Admiral Cup that my boss was wearing. Of course, being a junior executive, all I could do was to "dream". For the next 20 years I worked hard, got married, raised a family ( 3 kids). To own my dream watch has always been at the back of my mind but with so much commitment in life, I had to curb my urge as I needed to prioritise things in life .
My dedication to work culminated in my appointment as regional marketing director for the biggest pharmaceutical company in the world. Luck would have it, April last year saw the opportunity to get a very good VSS package as I have been with the company for 14 years. And I was also lucky to get a promotion in another firm very quickly. I proceeded to fulfil my dream: I now own, in chronogical order: Corum Admiral Cup, A Lange & Sohne Lange1 moonphase, FP Journe CS ( 40mm rosegold), Brequet La Tradition and a Panerai 249 California Dial. I did not get a Patek because of how the company in collution with an auction house to corner their market. They chased up the bid and bought back the watches themselves.
I may be lucky to be at the right place and the right time, but a lot is also attributed to my sacrifice and hardwork earlier on in my career. I guess what I want to share with you is that it is good to have a "dream", work at it and it would become a reality. It took me 20 yeras to achieve my dream of owning watches that I like. It is never too late for anything.
I hope my experience will give you some inspiration and I wish you all the best in your career. May your dream come through soon.
Best regards,
Sam
