We had dinner with friends who loaded up the table beyond belief
Apologies for the lack of detailed photos, but you can see the different in table settings here vs the modern design at Tony's daughter's place. This is family originally from Lebanon and they know how to do "food to excess" as well as the Italians do.
I can say that after two hours of appetizers and drinks, the eight of us marched ourselves over the the main table, and began working on Julia Child's 'duck in a crust', a ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and marshmallows, green beans, beets, cranberry sauce, a loaf of my bread, and so forth.
We had old vine Zinfandel, some Cabernet, some Chianti, soft white, crisp white, sparkling Rose and a variety of waters to choose from.
That was followed by cranberry pie, apple pie, ice cream, chocolates, port, coffee, tea, etc. etc.
