I think many of can recognize your journey throught the horological landscape. I you are definately among kindred spirits here.
Regarding the the 38 mm dead seconds. I have come across grey dials - you will sometimes find those. I have yet to see a pink dial in 38 mm but I am sure they must be out there, since they where one of the options. By the time the Dead seconds entered the market, the trend favored larger cases so thats why you will come across more in 40 mm. Now the trend is the opposite. smaller watches are regarded a little more tasteful. I suggest you just get what suits your wrist better. Trends will pass and shouldnt be given so much weight on such a substancial purchase.
The stone dial (jade and ruby) are only produced in 40 mm and in such limited numbers that the chance of finding one for sale is as rare as hens teeth.

Hi, I’ve been silently gazing the different posts for a while but this is only my first! I love this Journe community! So, I had a question: There’s a lot of information out there about the early brass tourbillon pieces but I can’t seem to find much about...

Thank you for your reply! Ive been collecting watches for around 15 years now and mostly been a Patek fan during that time. Only 3-4 years ago have I started appreciating the independents. This inevitably led me to FPJ and this thread! I bought my first J...

You'll enjoy this community, plenty of knowledge and fun here. in my memory, most Tourbillons except the very early Journe are 40mm (including the Ruby & Jade stone versions). more precisely, the 2015 LE of 5 watch set marks the end of 38mm case size...al...

Hello, John; and welcome.

Journe hasn’t used 38mm cases for several years. Therefore there’s a premium on watches of that size. Now and then you’ll find one on the market. In the US I’d suggest you watch Govberg for their listings. On a smaller scale European Watch Co. could be a ...

Warm welcome to WPS, John

I think the others have answered your question so nothing I can really add. 38mm is hard to find for many references and for certain there is a significant premium associated with the smaller case size. Given the other watches you mentioned in terms of In...
