PT Octa was my choice

First I narrowed it down to Pt, I just liked the look of white metal with the Journe dials more, no better reason. The Octa vs CS choice took a bit longer. I started with a CS, 40mm, and wore it for about 3 months before an Octa became available. The CS is a wonderful watch, I just found the case of the Octa fit me better. The CS is so thin that i wound find the crown against my wrist frequently, sometimes with enough pressure that the flexing of my wrist pulled the crown out into the 'set' position. The slight increase in thickness to the Octa solved that problem!

On the other hand I really miss being able to stare at the CS movement, it's a fantastic design...

Chronometre Souverain vs. Octa Automatic Reserve

I think it all boils down to whether you prefer a manual wind or an automatic.Many purists would only go the way of the manual version for reasons of aesthetics( movement isn't obstructed by the rotor) and to provide a sense of bonding as you wind it dail...

Yes, I find the automatic useful though I had some other manual winding watches. I did try both the CS and the Octa automatic. Just a tough call, and I have to gather the pros and cons...etc. Cheers! Nien

Do you plan to wear the same watch every day? If so I'd go with the Automatic Reserve simply for convenience; autowind and date.

The automatic Octa was designed for the RDM. The latter reapplication to the CS dial is not oroiginal but fortuitous. So if you want the CS dial layout, get the manual. I personally have both the CS and Octa RDM and love both of them. I wear one or the ot...
