Dear all Purists,
I am deciding to go either Chronometre Souverain PT or Octa Automatic Reserve.
Tough call though, please advise why you prefer one over another. I know one is Mechanical, another is Automatic.
Another question, do you prefer PT over RG? Why?
Thanks!
Best regards,
Nien
I think it all boils down to whether you prefer a manual wind or an automatic. Many purists would only go the way of the manual version for reasons of aesthetics( movement isn't obstructed by the rotor) and to provide a sense of bonding as you wind it daily.Accuracy for some may also play a part in choosing manual but from my experience the auto is no slouch in this area. Both are exquisitely crafted and IMO it would be advisable and if possible to try both on the wrist to get a feel for each before making the final decision. You won't go wrong either way though.
Personally, I went the way of the auto, mainly because of the convenience of having the 5 days power reserve, which will allow me to rotate with other watches within that period without having to reset it.I was also enamoured with the beautifully decorated 22k gold rotor which IMO added to the splendour of the movement and the facination of seeing the winding mechanism at work.
I also appreciate and own manually wound watches and those that I have chosen I will not have it any other way.In this case I don't think there is a clear cut winner but if it's an automatic you want then this one is awesome- my absolute favorite!
I hope others with the CS will give you there point of view and reasons for their choice and some pics. for comparison.
Here's the Auto Res.

Yes, I find the automatic useful though I had some other manual winding watches. I did try both the CS and the Octa automatic.
Just a tough call, and I have to gather the pros and cons...etc.
Cheers!

Currently, I have few Panerais, Rolexes Hublots, and looking to add some really serious dressing watch. Hublot and Rolex is automatic, Panerai mostly manual even with one eight days, and 42hours.
To be honest, got more than enough watches to rotate...
I admire the art and workmanship from Journe, and IMHO, it is better than Patek finishing at some point. But Patek still a Patek and Journe still a Journe.
Looking at the movement makes my heart beat faster!!!
Cheers!
