I can fully empathize

Most of us got into this hobby/passion because we physically enjoyed these timepieces and understood that there are financial costs to this hobby. with time, we developed insight into what adds value (materials, finishing, R+D, brand pedigree etc) and what the relative prices ranges for entry mechanical, beater watch, sports, sport luxury and haute horologie are. Enter the current market dynamics and their effect on the dirth of entry pieces and how certain "hot" models do not follow the classical valuation model that we have come to expect, and that can really mess with one's psyche and how they enjoy a piece or how a piece follows its usual/expected timeline in one's collection.
The CB is a beautiful timepiece, and one that I had pined over for years (and almost acquired) but a quick search of any reputable second hand dealer will show it priced higher than other FPJ's with more expensive materials, more complications and/or better finishing. So in the olden days, one might have enjoyed a CB for a few years and then traded it in for centrigraphe or a resonance, but with its second hand price skyrocketing every week...one would be hard pressed to do such a trade because you don't want to sell low (compared to whatever peak value the watch may achieve). IMHO, that negatively affects the watch collecting experience, because matters of the mind (value retention, ability to re-acquire the piece in the future) mess with matters of the heart (this passion of ours).
Not to mention the few people who acquire certain timepieces to achieve status, which is more of a phenomenon on IG than it is on this reputable forum.
Apologies for the ramble
