How times have changed
It was very easy to get this back in 2014 when I got mine. Now the waiting list is so long and price has gone up so much that it kinda ruined my enjoyment of this watch. I become more stressful when wearing this piece. Not that I will part with it, it’s just more of a psychological thing for me.

It's interesting to see the market dynamics develop on watches that trade over list
There's a huge positive feedback loop. Once a watch gets to the point where you don't lost any money on secondary value, demand goes through the roof, driving prices higher. Normally, the logical thing to do would be to increase supply or prices until things equalize, but watch brands have learned that it can be more beneficial to keep the secondary market hot. Great move by Journe in my view!

I’ve always had a strained relationship with safe queens. I guess if you are a real collector it is of no real importance, if you wear a watch. However, for me, every watch has been meant for my wrist. If that is no longer the case, I would let it go.

And don’t plan to let it go. I am just more worried about scratching the watch when wearing it. It’s more of a psychological thing for me. Otherwise it’s one of my favorite pieces to wear.
I understand the dilemma.
I got mine in 2015 and although they weren’t everywhere, I didn’t have to go on a waitlist. Since then, I’ve seen it turn into something completely different. But since it’s a never-sell piece for me, I’m able to keep the market situation quite separate from my own actual watch and enjoy it—sure, it feels nice to know there’s some value retention (or in this case, increase), but it was always meant to tell my story, so I’m letting it do that.
