F.P. Journe

Collecting journey

Pleasure to meet you, yours is absolutely stunning! FPJ was actually my first love in the watch world. In fact, the Bleu was my first mechanical watch. About 12 years ago I spent months researching every brand and was captivated by the Journe brand and design. The unmistakable dial designs, elegance, ingenuity, and at the time lowkey nature of that watches were just some of the reasons the brand spoke to me. Whenever I held any of the pieces at my local AD (RIP) there was a specialness to them. Fast forward, I’m still in love with the brand but particularly the early 38mm pieces since I have a smaller wrist and feel awkward wearing anything bigger. Beyond the much more wearable case size for me personally, this 01 Octa has a specialness given its place early in the Journe story which has gone to heights no one ever imagined all while helping pave a way for many other independents. I collect a variety of other watches brands with a recent emphasis on vintage given the smaller case sizes, diversity, and bang for the buck. In terms of Journe, my goal would be to collect all the other brass models with yellow gold dials. In terms Journe “vintage”, I currently have this Octa and a yellow gold dial Octa Lune from 03. In additional to the brass pieces, I’d like to eventually get a 38mm Octa UTC, Centigraphe Anniversaire, aluminum CTS, and an Optimum black label or with a salmon dial. Also really like the legibility of the QP so that’s on the list as well. I know some of those are 40mm but I think I can make an exception on case size for Journe…oh and how could I forget my ultimate grail, a T10 😆
